Bern Jones had one of those panicky, 'how am I going to get my car out of this car park?' moments recently.
She had parked at Foyleside shopping centre in Derry and when she returned, headed straight to the ticket machine to pay the £3 parking fee.
"I couldn’t get the parking ticket machine to take my card and hadn’t enough change," Bern explained.
However, help was at hand. The lady who was social distancing in the queue behind Bern offered to pay the ticket.
"She told me it was her good deed for the day. I was embarrassed but it was a lovely act of kindness," Bern says.
