We like to think of ourselves as a stoic, no-nonsense, bunch in Britain.
With shoulders squared back and stiff upper-lip and all that we quietly muddle along with the minimum of fuss.
But, at the first sign of snow dropping from the sky, that nationally established character dissolves completely.

Met Office said there is a chance of thundersnow – which is similar to a thunderstorm, except snow falls instead of rain.
