As Donald Trump was being inaugurated as the 45th president of the US, his team uploaded some flagship policies to the official White House website.

They cover everything from the incoming administration’s climate policy, through military, foreign policy, trade and law enforcement plans.

Highlights include a cut in corporation tax, a new missile defence system, The Wall, and growing the US military (which is already the largest in the world by some distance.)

For all the emphasis on reversing Obamacare, there was no mention of healthcare plans in the initial upload.

Here are the key pledges.

1. America First energy plan

Trump promises to “embrace the shale oil and gas revolution to bring jobs and prosperity to millions of Americans” and to revive “America’s coal industry”.

The post reads: “For too long, we’ve been held back by burdensome regulations on our energy industry.

“President Trump is committed to eliminating harmful and unnecessary policies such as the Climate Action Plan and the Waters of the US rule.

“Lifting these restrictions will greatly help American workers, increasing wages by more than $30 billion over the next seven years.”

2. Foreign policy and the military

Here Trump pledges to “rebuild the American military” and grow the airforce and navy because he the country’s “military dominance must be unquestioned”.It adds: “Defeating ISIS and other radical Islamic terror groups will be our highest priority. To defeat and destroy these groups, we will pursue aggressive joint and coalition military operations when necessary.“We will also develop a state-of-the-art missile defence system to protect against missile-based attacks from states like Iran and North Korea.”

It also outlines cyberwarfare as “an emerging battlefield” and promises to develop the best “defensive and offensive cyber capabilities”.

Striking a more cosy and fuzzy note, it adds: “The world must know that we do not go abroad in search of enemies, that we are always happy when old enemies become friends, and when old friends become allies.”

Continuing his rhetorical support for ex-soldiers, Trump declares he’ll do all he can to “make sure our veterans get the care they deserve”.

3. Trade, jobs and growth

(Andrew Harnik/AP)

This continues Trump’s line of putting “hard-working men and women” in front of the “interests of insiders and the Washington elite”.

The President, with a “lifetime of negotiating experience”, will ensure “tough and fair agreements” to “grow our economy, return millions of jobs to America’s shores, and revitalise our nation’s suffering communities”.

It says the trade team will have the “toughest and smartest” people ensuring Americans have “the best negotiators possible” on the world stage. The post says job-growing plans will start with “pro-growth tax reform” to “lower rates for American’s in every tax bracket, simplify the tax code, and reduce the US corporate tax rate, which is one of the highest in the world”.

The President’s policies, it’s promised, will “unleash economic growth and create 25 million news jobs and help Make America Great Again”.

4. Law enforcement

(Patrick Semansky/AP)

The Trump Administration will “empower our law enforcement officers to do their jobs and keep our streets free of crime and violence” and is “committed to reducing violent crime”.

It criticises the “dangerous anti-police atmosphere in America” and pledges to “end it”.

The post continues: “Our job is not to make life more comfortable for the rioter, the looter, or the violent disrupter.

(Mary Altaffer/AP)

“Our job is to make life more comfortable for parents who want their kids to be able to walk the streets safely. Or the senior citizen waiting for a bus. Or the young child walking home from school.

“President Trump is committed to building a border wall to stop illegal immigration, to stop the gangs and the violence, and to stop the drugs from pouring into our communities.”
