A man who crashed his car into a tree told police the accident happened as he was trying to drive with his head stuck out of the window “like Ace Ventura”.
According to a police accident report, the man was driving in Lincoln, Nebraska, when he veered off the road and into a garden, uprooted a tree and finally struck a wall.
The report states the 26-year-old driver “informed officers that he crashed because of inoperable windshield wipers, which forced him to drive with his head out of the window ‘like Ace Ventura,’ due to the rain”.
In the Jim Carrey movie Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, the title character famously drove with his head stuck out of the window when his windscreen was damaged.
The incident in Lincoln was estimated to have caused around 500 US dollars (£393) worth of damage.
The driver was taken into custody and processed for driving under the influence.
