Victoria fans breathed a sigh of relief as the first episode of series two closed with the news that Lord Melbourne will return.
Viewers tuning in for the return of the hit ITV period drama – which stars Jenna Coleman as the monarch – were disappointed to see that the heartthrob character played by Rufus Sewell was nowhere to be seen.
Many posted messages online saying they were waiting for him to appear and one fan even said on Twitter: “The magic has gone a bit without Lord M, hasn’t it?”
Others shared video clips of people waiting impatiently.

I have one question, and one question only.

Sewell was in the first few instalments of the first series of the drama, before his character was written out.
However, at the end of the episode it was revealed that the Lord will be making a comeback in the second episode – and viewers were thrilled.
One posted on Twitter: “Shout out to the ITV voiceover man, thank you for letting me know Lord M is in the next episode and saving my week #Victoria.”

“I am so so excited for next week’s episode now I love Lord M,” said another excited Victoria fan.
The new series of the ratings hit revisits the Queen shortly after the birth of her first child and will chronicle the pressures she faced trying to juggle her royal duties with her role as wife and mother.
It covers the period when Victoria, who was famously besotted with German-born Prince Albert (Tom Hughes), gave birth to their nine children.
Viewers were delighted to have the series back on their screens.
Many said it was “perfect” Sunday night viewing.
