Jennifer Lawrence says it is “hilarious” to see the polarised reactions to her shocking with new film mother!
The Oscar-winner, 27, stars as a young wife who is shaping a perfect home when it is invaded by outsiders in the film by Darren Aronofsky, director of Black Swan and Requiem For A Dream.
The film has received vast praise from critics, while many viewers have found it a gruelling experience.
But all have agreed on its ability to shock.
Lawrence told the Press Association: “We knew it was going to be polarising, it’s just hilarious to see the people who love it, love it, and they think it’s amazing and they get it and then the people who don’t like it, absolutely despise it – there’s no in between.”
Speaking at the movie’s Toronto International Film Festival premiere, she also said that she hopes audiences take home the theme of mankind’s affect on the environment.
“Just (think) how wonderful our world would be if we all just took care of this Earth as is what it is – a breathing, living organism,” she said.
Co-star Javier Bardem said Lawrence’s talent made his job easy.

“She is a very generous person, she gives a lot, you just have to be there and take it and try to give it to her back. It’s easy, she’s an amazing actress,” he said.
Aronofsky also told how he wanted the film to provoke thought about the environment.
He said: “I want people to think about their home and think about their mother and think about mother nature.”
For co-star Ed Harris, it was Aronofsky’s talent that pulled him into the project.
His thoughts after being asked to join the film were: “What the hell, man. You’re a wonderful film-maker and a visionary of sorts so I’ll go on this ride with you.”
