Singer Dua Lipa and Reading rockers The Amazons have been honoured with Ascap Vanguard Awards for their influence on their musical genres.
They were presented with their prizes by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (Ascap) during a ceremony in central London on Monday.
Lipa, who has recently seen chart success with her pop sensation New Rules, and The Amazons, who released their self-titled debut album this year, were joined by music producer Steve Mac, receiving the Founders award for his 27 years of “pioneering” work in the industry.
Other award winners include Jamaican singer Richie Stephens, who picked up two honours for both song of the year and top digital song, after his track Sail Away (Riddim) was sampled in Rihanna and Drake’s hit, Work.
Meanwhile, British composer Joby Talbot earned film score of the year for his work on last year’s big-screen animation, Sing, and MNEK’s collaboration with Zara Larsson, Never Forget You, was named top EDM (electronic dance music) song.
There were also honours for the list of Hot 100 Winning Songs, including two entries from Coldplay (Hymn For The Weekend and Adventure Of A Lifetime) and recognition for Joe Garrett and Levi Lennox’s work co-writing Pillowtalk by Zayn Malik.
Jess Glynne featured in the list of EDM winning songs for Hold My Hand and Peter Townshend was awarded for his contribution to the music for CSI: Cyber in the line-up of top television series awards.
Among the musicians credited in the top film awards category this year were David Buckley (Jason Bourne), Simon Franglen (The Magificent Seven) and Michael Higham (Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children).
