EastEnders had a successful month on BBC iPlayer, with the soap commanding more than half of the 20 most-watched shows in September.
According to newly-released data, 11 episodes of the serial drama were in the top 20 for the month, and amassed over 12.5 million streams in total.
The most successful episode of EastEnders, which originally aired on September 15, was viewed 1.92 million times across the rest of the month on the service.
It came in sixth place behind episodes from only two other programmes – drama series Doctor Foster and Strike: The Silkworm.
Four episodes of the gripping second season of Doctor Foster were aired in September, and each of those instalments took the top four iPlayer slots for the month.
They garnered nine million requests from viewers, with the first episode alone being watched almost three million times.
The fifth and final episode of the series, starring Suranne Jones as a woman who seeks revenge after her husband cheated on her, aired in October.
The BBC’s adaptation of JK Rowling’s Cormoran Strike novels, written under her pseudonym Robert Galbraith, was in fifth place, with the first episode of Strike: The Silkworm being viewed 1.29 million times.
The month’s most popular episode of Strictly Come Dancing was requested 1.26 million times.
In total, there were 239 million requests for TV programmes on the catch-up service in September.
Dan McGolpin, controller of programming and daytime, said: “Fantastic content has driven a strong September for BBC iPlayer.
“We’ve had the return of brilliant shows like Doctor Foster and Strictly joined by superb new series like Strike and Rellik, all of which has made for a great start to the autumn season.”
