Strictly Come Dancing finalist Joe McFadden has revealed his secret weapon for success in the competition.
The Holby City star, 42, is favourite to take the glitterball crown ahead of fellow finalists Alexandra Burke, Gemma Atkinson and Debbie McGee in Saturday night’s final following 13 weeks of gruelling competition.
And it appears professional partner Katya Jones has been working the Scottish-born actor so hard he needs to sleep before shows.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Saturday night’s final, McFadden said he has “one or two or three naps before every live show”.
“As long as I get 15 minutes then I’m good,” he added.
He called reaching the grand final a “dream come true”.
“I would have never dared to think I would be here after all this time and to be here with these amazing women just feels like a beautiful thing that I don’t want to end,” McFadden said.
He also heaped praise on the Strictly producers for managing to put together a diverse line-up which fans can relate to.
“The good thing about the line-up this year is everyone is represented in that line up.
“The people can see themselves in the show and I think that’s important.
“That’s one of the reasons we can all relate to it very much,” he added.
Initially labelled a dark horse by head judge Shirley Ballas, McFadden is bookies’ favourite to take the trophy on Saturday night with Jones.
The couple will perform three times including a Viennese Waltz to Somewhere My Love from Dr Zhivago and showdance to Hall and Oates’ You Make My Dreams.
:: Strictly Come Dancing’s grand final airs at 6.30pm on BBC One.
