Star Wars actor John Boyega has said he once waited to meet Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya at the stage door of a theatre.

The London-born actors were both recently honoured at the Santa Barbara Film Festival and Boyega shared a photograph of the two of them as he reminisced about the advice he was once given by the Oscar nominee.

He wrote: “A few years ago I waited at the stage door to meet Daniel after his phenomenal performance and he was kind enough to speak to me giving me much needed wisdom for the future.

“Cut to 2018 and we’re both Being honoured on the same night. Congrats king.”

Boyega and Kaluuya were both presented with Virtuoso awards at the film festival, alongside Call Me By Your Name star Timothee Chalamet, Mudbound actress Mary J Blige, Downsizing star Hong Chau and The Big Sick star and co-writer Kumail Nanjiani.

Boyega was honoured for his work in Kathryn Bigelow’s film Detroit, while Kaluuya was recognised for his breakout role in Jordan Peele’s race satire Get Out, which bagged him a best actor nod at the Academy Awards.
