Louis Theroux is to host his own podcast series interviewing subjects including Sir Lenny Henry and Boy George.

The broadcaster will front Grounded, which the BBC says will dig “into the psyches of some of the biggest names in the UK and the US”.

Theroux will interview his subjects for hour-long episodes, with the first featuring writer and documentary-maker Jon Ronson.

They discuss their professional rivalry, inhabiting similar worlds and how Ronson, who is known for films including The Men Who Stare At Goats and Them: Adventures With Extremists, is handling the lockdown.

Other confirmed guests include Sir Lenny, Boy George and the actress Miriam Margolyes, with more to be announced.

Theroux said: “I’ve really loved doing these interviews. It’s been a chance to speak to people I admire and have in depth conversations with them, about their lives, their careers, and their most intimate feelings.

“Making a podcast and radio series is very different to my usual way of working. And for that reason, I’ve found it very fun and refreshing.”

Grounded with Louis Theroux launches on BBC Sounds with an introductory episode, with the first full instalment arriving on April 27.

It will be broadcast on Radio 4 on March 6.
