Call of Duty has released the first full story trailer for the next instalment of its popular Zombies mode, which is set to appear in the upcoming Call of Duty game, Black Ops 4.
The new game has already made headlines as the first major Call of Duty release to not feature a dedicated story mode, instead introducing a battle royale mode to take on the rising popularity of games such as Fortnite.
However, the game’s developers did promise more narrative elements in the other modes – including Zombies – and the first trailer has provided early evidence of that.
“Scarlett Rhodes is out to solve her eccentric father’s mysterious disappearance,” the trailer synopsis says.
“With the help of three loyal outcasts, she’ll fight waves of the undead and uncover a prized relic wielding an extraordinary power that threatens all of humanity.”
Developer Treyarch has already confirmed that this edition of the Zombies mode will be the largest launch day offering ever provided, with three full experiences – IX, Voyage of Despair and Blood of the Dead – all available on day one.
It entails one experience set aboard the Titanic as it is taken over by zombies, as well as another experience set in an ancient Rome-style gladiator arena.
How players jump between these various regions has not yet been fully explained, though the trailer does mention time travel – which in the realm of Call of Duty Zombies is far from an outlandish idea.
