A CO Derry family-run bakery that employs 260 people and is on the verge of collapse has a new owner.
The Genesis Crafty bakery in Magherafelt, which supplies scones, wheaten and sodas to highstreet giants including Tescos and Marks and Spencer, has been taken over in a rescue plan by Paul Allen, Tayto's chief exeuctive.
McErlain's Bakery, a family business which was founded 50 years ago by Joseph and Roberta McErlain, was rebranded in 1998 and had their six sons at the helm.
It is understood the firm will enter into administration but a buyer is not lined up to take it over immediately, according to the BBC.
Brian McErlain headed the company as managing director while his siblings had roles in dispatch, business development, product development, operations management and bakery management.
It is understood five of the brothers are leaving following Mr Allen's purchase.
It is understood the company got into financial difficulties within the last year and that the change in ownership is likely to happen over the next day.
The sale price to Mr Allen is not known.
