Accountancy firm ASM has established its first base in Derry City.

The company, founded in 1995, has opened a new north west hub above Ulster Bank the Da Vinchi complex on Culmore Road.

Last week, ASM Chartered Accountants’ Belfast office announced it will join the Sumer Group at the end of June and will become Sumer Northern Ireland.

The move doesn’t impact the firm’s other offices in Magherafelt, Dungannon, Newry and Dundalk, which continue to trade under the ASM brand.

The company’s managing director, Michael McAllister, said the opening of its new Derry base signals the firm’s intent and reaffirms its commitment to the area.

“Our significant growth in recent years is a testament to our reputation as a dependable and reputable business that adds significant value to our clients,” he said.

“This move will make it easier for clients in the north west to benefit from our comprehensive range of services.

“We look forward to further engagement with existing and prospective clients in the weeks and months ahead.”

The move has been welcomed by Derry Chamber. The business body’s chief executive, Anna Doherty, said: “It is always exciting to see a dynamic and well-known firm extend its operations into our region.

“That ASM has taken the decision to extend into our region is testament to the good work that is being done on the ground in the north west to make the area more attractive for businesses and improve regional balance in Northern Ireland.”
