The Airtastic Bangor multi-activity centre is set to temporarily shut it doors on Monday November 4 ahead of undergoing a £1.2 million redevelopment ahead of a grand reopening early in 2025.
Bangor was first Airtastic location to open in Northern Ireland in October 2016, and currently features an inflata park and a soft play centre.
But the investment by its owners will transform into a multi-activity venue for all ages, complete with 12 lanes of high-tech ten pin bowling, a play-to-win prizes amusement arcade, a new laser tag arena, and a larger soft play area.
The group currently operates at six centres across Ireland, at Belfast, Lisburn, Craigavon, Cork and Kildare, as well as Bangor.
“We’re thrilled to bring this exciting redevelopment to our Bangor centre, continuing to serve the community with even more ways to have fun,” said Thomas Fegan, business operations director at Airtastic.
“The new centre will offer something for everyone, with activities suitable for all ages, and we’re proud to support the North Down and Ards area by creating new jobs, providing a destination for family-friendly fun, but also a new option for a great evening out for the locals.”
He said the company was currently recruiting for the revamped Bangor operation, with updates on the redevelopment, job opportunities, and the re-opening available at @AirtasticNI on social media or at airtastic.co.uk.
Airtastic’s owners are listed as by SMS Platinum Group Ltd, which also owns the Funky Monkeys Playcentres Ltd in Newry, and its directors are Alison Simpson, Mark Simpson and Henry Moore.
In the financial year to May 2023 it saw revenues rise by more than 20% to £13.6 million, while its pre-tax profit came in at just over £1.5 million.
The group has 393 full- and part-time staff.
