Belfast International Airport has confirmed its new duty free store will open in April as part of the latest stage in its five-year £100 million investment plan.

Lagardère Travel Retail has been appointed to operate the new 17,000 sq ft retail venture, which will create 40 jobs.

Chinese lifestyle retailer Miniso and cosmetics brand Rituals will be included in the expanded walkthrough retail space, which will double the size of the current offering.

The duty free will also boast what the Vinci-owned airport has described as a ‘whiskey apothecary’ and immersive interactive ‘hotspots’ for travellers.

“Our vision is to create an exceptional and dynamic experience that goes beyond the traditional airport journey, combining innovative concepts with a strong sense of place,” said Peter Newbould, chief executive of Lagardère Travel Retail.

The new retail investment follows the opening of a new security and arrivals hall at the airport last year.

Belfast International Airport’s owner Vinci has also confirmed that 2024 was its busiest ever year, with a record 6.757 million passengers using the Co Antrim terminal.
