Three directors of a Newry catering business have been disqualified, five years after the company went into liquidation.
Craigmore Catering Ltd went into liquidation in September 2018 owing just under £800,000.
The Department for the Economy (DfE) said around £120,000 of assets were left available to creditors, resulting in an estimated deficiency of around £673,00.
The company was formally dissolved in July 2022.
The department said it had accepted the disqualification undertakings from the three directors on December 18 2023 based on “unfit conduct”.
The undertakings were received for five years from David Reynolds (43) of Shepherds Close, Newry; for five years from Caroline Reynolds (47) of Shepherds Close, Newry; and for five years from Kris Fletcher (39) of Craigmore Road, Newry; in respect of their conduct as directors of the food firm.
DfE said from 2013/14 to the date of liquidation, the directors caused and permitted Craigmore Catering Ltd to retain £360,280, “representing 53.5% of the company’s overall estimated deficiency in respect of PAYE, NIC and VAT which were properly payable to the Crown”.
The directors also accepted that they failed to maintain, preserve and deliver up adequate books and records.
DfE said it had accepted 15 disqualification undertakings in the current financial year, with the court making eight disqualification orders since April 1 2023.
