French multinational Saint-Gobain to acquire Kilwaughter Minerals

Co Antrim quarry business Kilwaughter Minerals is set to be acquired by French multinational Saint-Gobain.

The Paris-headquartered corporation announced a binding agreement with the company on Monday evening.

Founded in 1939, the privately-owned quarrying and mineral processor employs around 200 people at its 187-acre limestone quarry near Larne.

Subject to Competition and Markets Authority approval, the transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2025.

Saint-Gobain is a global leader in the design and manufacture of solutions for the construction industry and employs 160,000 people across 76 countries globally.

It has a wide-ranging portfolio of lightweight construction solutions for building facades and envelopes.

Known for K Rend, K Systems and Kilwaughter Lime brands, Kilwaughter Minerals generated revenues of around £50 million in the year to April 2024.
