Leading construction, refurbishment and fit out company, Gilbert-Ash, has launched a major new campaign to celebrate the achievements of its people, as it seeks to attract the industry’s best talent and continue delivering stand-out projects throughout the 44 countries it operates in.
The ‘Make Your Mark’ campaign comes as Gilbert-Ash continues its relentless drive to deliver generational projects and follows the completion of work on iconic buildings such as the National Portrait Gallery, the Royal College of Music and The Everyman Theatre.
Make Your Mark is also aimed at attracting the very best people in the construction industry to further fuel Gilbert-Ash’s continued growth.
Gilbert-Ash managing director, Ray Hutchinson, said the company is extremely proud of its growing portfolio of iconic projects and he is excited for what the future holds.
He said: “Gilbert-Ash delivers projects in sectors including workplace and offices, hotels and leisure, arts and culture, education, residential, student accommodation and healthcare. We also have an excellent fit-out team.
“We have already established a first-class reputation for the work we do in these sectors, but we want to continue to develop as a company, making Gilbert-Ash an employer of choice, and of course, to continue to work on amazing projects.
“Our people can say their work can be viewed in the National Portrait Gallery or they have quite literally created the stage for world class musicians to deliver virtuoso performances at the Royal College of Music.
“When you work for Gilbert-Ash, you deliver projects which make a difference. Projects which stand out from the crowd and are never run-of-the-mill.
“We have a unique approach to construction, fit out and refurbishment. It’s based on our belief that great buildings come about through hard work, inspired innovation and genuine collaboration.
“Our detailed obsessed and creatively fearless teams build places and spaces that define communities, and our Make Your Mark campaign champions these efforts.
“When you join our company, you will have numerous opportunities to deliver projects that will form unique portfolios of work which you can look back on with pride and the knowledge that your contribution made a difference to project, people and the planet.
“We want people who are outstanding - those who are comfortable leading from the front, at home collaborating with others and passionate about working on iconic buildings, many of which will be enjoyed by millions of people over their lifespan.
“We are inviting the best people to join us so you can ‘Make Your Mark’.”
The projects we get to work on are amazing, people talk about these projects and it is great to be part of that. Every time I pass a building I have worked on with my children, I get to tell them I helped make this and that is a great feeling
One of those Gilbert-Ash people making their mark on prestigious projects is project planner, Aparna Chavan.
Aparna joined Gilbert-Ash six years ago and has described her time with the company as hugely satisfying.
She said: “When I was preparing for my interview, I looked at the Gilbert-Ash website and was amazed to see the calibre of projects they have worked on in the past and are continuing to take on now. I knew I wanted to be part of this company.
“I take immense pride in seeing a project go from a design on paper to the completed structure. There is something very satisfying about walking or driving past completed projects I have worked on.
“The projects we get to work on are amazing, people talk about these projects and it is great to be part of that. Every time I pass a building I have worked on with my children, I get to tell them I helped make this and that is a great feeling.”
Aparna has also spoken of her pride in the team ethos that is instilled throughout the company.
She said: “Gilbert-Ash is a great company to work for. It is a people company — your opinion matters here and you are always part of the solution.
“At Gilbert-Ash we have an ‘As One’ ethos which means we place huge importance on working as a team. There is a real family atmosphere at the company, everyone is valued and we all work closely together.
“Every opinion matters, you might not always be right but your contribution will help us find the solution to any challenge that arises.
“One of my favourite aspects of being a Project Planner is at the Tender Programme stage when the whole team is involved.
“There are some brilliant minds at Gilbert-Ash and it is great to be able to sit down at the start of the project and discuss how projects should be constructed from start to finish.
“We lean on each other and help each other a lot, which makes for a great working environment. I always feel supported and valued and, if my children decide to go into the construction industry, I would have no hesitation encouraging them to join Gilbert-Ash.
“For everyone else, I would simply say that at Gilbert-Ash you will be given everything you need to progress your career and work on stand-out projects.”
Gilbert-Ash’s projects have been shortlisted for the Royal Institute of British Architects’ Stirling Prize four times including the Lyric Theatre in 2012, the Giant’s Causeway Visitor Centre in 2013 and, most recently, in 2021 for Cambridge Central Mosque, with the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool winning the coveted award in 2014.
