Graham and Bricks Group are set to transform Nottingham’s Bendigo Building

CONSTRUCTION giant Graham has been awarded a £70 million contract to transform an iconic building in Nottingham into luxury accommodation for more than 650 students.

The deal has been done with Bricks, a privately-owned property group specialising in investment, development, and management in sectors including hotels, student accommodation, and co-living.

Originally built in the late 1960s, the Bendigo Building served as a Royal Mail sorting office.

After nearly two decades of vacancy, the redevelopment will bring new vibrancy to the area and high-end accommodation to students, offering connectivity to the nearby Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham train station and high street.

‘True Nottingham’, a 661-bed development, offers a compelling variety of living options including studios and four, five and six ensuite bedroom apartments.

The luxury all-inclusive accommodation will provide amenities such as the Festival zone, multi-media/games lounge, state-of-the-art gym with personal trainers plus fully landscaped garden with outdoor seating areas, car parking and cycle storage.

Ronan Hughes, regional director at at Hillsborough-based Graham (www.graham.co.uk), which last year had sales of more than £1 billion and which currently has a near-£2 billion order book, said: “We’re delighted to be continuing our relationship with Bricks Group to deliver this development that represents a significant investment in student accommodation.

“We have similar experience in delivering major projects in the city and look forward to transforming an unused space into a thriving new community for Nottingham’s student population.”

Pete Prickett, chief executive and founder at Bricks, which operates a portfolio of 7,000 beds across a number of Russell Group university cities, added: “It’s great to be introducing ‘true student’ accommodation to guests in Nottingham.

“I’m really excited to extend our strong relationship with Graham after our first successful project together in Salford.”
