Hollywood Bowl has announced plans to open a new 21-lane alley at The Boulevard shopping outlet in Banbridge.

The 23,000 sq ft outlet will form the centre attraction in a £9 million expansion of the retail destination.

Lotus Property has submitting a planning application for a 60,000 sq ft ‘food and entertainment quarter’ at The Boulevard.

Subject to planning approval, it will take the total size of the shopping complex to 220,000 sq ft.

Hollywood Bowl expect its second outlet in Northern Ireland to be up and running by late 2025.

The announcement by Lotus comes just days after Gortalowry Developments Ltd secured planning permission for a £5.5m expansion of the Bridgewater Retail park, next door to The Boulevard.

The Co Tyrone developer, owned by Euro Auctions founder Derek Keys, is planning five new retail units, three drive-thru restaurants and a new garden centre at the out-of-town Banbridge retail site.

Commenting on the plans to expand The Boulevard Lotus Property managing director Alastair Coulson said: “Welcoming Hollywood Bowl to The Boulevard is an exciting moment in the scheme’s history as it triggers a multi-million pound redevelopment to create a ‘food and entertainment quarter.

“The Boulevard is already a successful destination for families and the arrival of Hollywood Bowl and the tranche of new food and beverage tenants that we expect to follow will support its transition into a compelling day-to-night option for customers.”

Laurence Keen, chief finance Officer at the Hollywood Bowl Group said: “We’re excited to announce our intention to open a 21-lane bowling alley and family entertainment centre at The Boulevard – our second location in Northern Ireland following our launch here two years ago in Belfast.
