Co Tyrone manufacturer Mallaghan has launched three new electric products aimed at the global aviation industry.

The Edendork-based company has introduced its first fully electric tanker and North America’s first fully-electric, refrigerated, wide-body capable catering truck, developed alongside Delta Air Lines.

The manufacturer also unveiled its new electric self-propelled toilet service truck at the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Expo in Lisbon this week.

Mallaghan said the new CT6000E catering truck developed with Delta introduces zero-emission ground operations into the US aviation sector.

The investment in new electric product lines is the latest evolution of the business, founded by Terry Mallaghan in the 1960s.

The civil engineering firm moved into the GSE sector during the 1990s and now lists some of the world’s biggest airlines among its customers.

Lourens Van Aswegen, director of ground support equipment at Delta, said the new electric products reflect the Co Tyrone firm’s innovation and adaptability.

“Mallaghan’s passion for finding unique answers to long-standing challenges is once again evident here,” he said.

Mallaghan’s chief commercial officer, Joe Griffith said: “These electric solutions represent a major step forward in aligning with global sustainability goals while meeting the needs of ground support operations, and showcases our innovation, environmental responsibility, and superior performance.”

The company’s chief executive, Ronan Mallaghan, added: “Our goal is to continuously push the boundaries of innovation, providing our customers with cutting-edge, sustainable solutions that reduce environmental impact.

“As the industry evolves, we remain dedicated to meeting the growing demand for eco-friendly equipment and look forward to continuing to work with our partners to deliver market-leading products.”
