South African multinational fast casual chain Nando’s is set to open its 11th restaurant in Northern Ireland later this week.
The new food outlet will open on Wednesday as part of the latest expansion of Sprucefield Retail Park.
Slim Chickens and Starbucks have already opened at the new site next to Sainsbury’s fuel forecourt.
US fast-casual chain Slim Chickens opened its first drive-thru restaurant outside the United States at the site in October.
The new units represent the first phase of a planned £20 million expansion of the retail park by NewRiver (Sprucefield) Limited.
A planning application has also been lodged to develop a fourth restaurant pod next to the new development.
Sprucefield Retail Park, which includes units leased to B&Q, Sainsbury’s and The Range, was acquired by NewRiver for £40 million in 2020.
The investment trust later sold 90% to a fund managed by the US-based Pacific Investment Management Company (Pimco). NewRiver retains a 10% share.
Ongoing development plans include new retail warehouse units, a hotel and a new Lidl supermarket.
The addition of Nando’s comes less than three months after the opening of its tenth northern restaurant at Forestside in south Belfast in early November.
The latest outlet has created 40 jobs, with plans to open seven days per week (11.30am – 10pm).
Restaurant manager, Colin McKerr said: “We’re delighted to be opening the doors to our brand-new Lisburn restaurant.
“The restaurant is beautiful, and we’re excited to welcome customers to Lisburn Sprucefield.”
