Next continue to downsize presence in Northern Ireland with closure of Home store at Sprucefield

Lisburn closure is the second Next Home outlet to shut in the north during 2024

Fashion and homeware retailer Next has confirmed the closure of another large store in Northern Ireland.

A spokesperson for the company said the Next Home outlet at Sprucefield Retail Park had “closed a few weeks ago”.

The company said it was not able to provide any further details on the closure of the 10,782 sq ft unit.

Next continue to operate a clothing store from the nearby Sprucefield Shopping Centre.

The closure of Next Home at Sprucefield comes a few months after Next shut its ‘Home’ outlet at the Crescent Link retail park in Derry in February.

The fashion retailer previously closed a store in Lisburn city centre in 2018.

Next currently have 20 stores in Northern Ireland.

Sprucefield Retail Park was acquired by NewRiver for £40 million in 2020, but the investment trust later sold 90% to a fund managed by the US-based Pacific Investment Management Company (Pimco).

NewRiver retains a 10% share.

The owners are also seeking a new tenant for the vacant unit beside the former Next Home outlet.



The premises was previously leased to Argos, but the retailer has relocated to the major Sainsbury’s supermarket at Sprucefield.

B&Q, The Range and B&M make up the rest of the retail park.

But there are plans in motion for a £20m expansion.

Nando’s, Starbucks and Tim Horton are set to open in three new hospitality units being developed next to Sainsburys’ fuel court,

New retail warehouse units, a hotel and a new Lidl supermarket are in the pipeline.
