A process is underway to find a chief executive for the ICC Belfast, Waterfront Hall, and Ulster Hall.

Belfast headhunting firm 4C Executive has been tasked with recruitment for the six figure role.

It follows last month’s exit of Julia Corkey from the Belfast City Council-owned events company.

She had held the CEO role for four years.

The latest accounts published on Companies House for Belfast Waterfront and Ulster Hall Limited show 43 conferences were hosted during the year ending March 31 2023, with £2.2m generated from room hire.

It’s understood revenue from conferences declined to £2.1m in the latest 2023/24 trading period.

The events company has a permanent staff of 65, with around 250 events staff.

Steve Daniels, non-executive chairman of the events company, said it now ready to appoint someone to drive its growth.

The next CEO will be given the target of doubling conference revenue to £4.2m by 2028/29.

“We are looking for someone with proven leadership skills, a growth mentality, and the ability to share our passion for delivering outstanding events and experiences to match the best in the world,” he said.

“Moreover, given the bold strategy to build business tourism in Northern Ireland, this is a role which has the potential to realise huge economic growth for Belfast and the wider region.

“Our three, very different, landmark venues play a central part in attracting revenue for the whole hospitality and tourism sector here. This is a very special and exciting opportunity.”

The chairman added: “We extend our thanks to outgoing CEO, Julia Corkey, we thank her for her service and wish her every success in the future.”
