Brother and sister killed in Donegal crash named

The brother and sister who died on in a two-vehicle crash in County Donegal, have been named locally as PJ McGettigan and his sister, Una. Both were in their 70s.

The crash occurred on the N56 at Kilmacrennan, near Letterkenny, at approximately 11.50pm, on Wednesday.

Gardaí and emergency services were tasked to the collision, which involved two vehicles.

The driver of the second car, a woman in her 40s, from the Falcarragh area, was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene and taken to the mortuary at Letterkenny University Hospital.

Local coroner Dr Denis McCauley was notified immediately and arrangements have been made for post-mortem examinations.

Gardai are appealing to witnesses to come forward.



Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are due at the scene of the RTC this morning.

The N56 road through Kilmacrennan village is closed and will remain so for some time.

Diversions are in place, with traffic being diverted via Milford and Churchill, with Gardai urging people to avoid the area if possible.
