A woman in her 80s from Co Donegal who was involved in a road traffic collision on Tuesday has been named after she died in hospital.
Rose Byrne had been one of two pedestrians who were hit by a car on Main Street in Buncrana on January 14.
She was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital after sustaining serious injuries in the incident.
A funeral notice said that she passed away on Sunday in the hospital while surrounded by her family.
“The death has occurred at Letterkenny University Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, of Rose Byrne née Gallagher,” the notice said.
Ms Byrne was described as the “beloved wife of Thomas and much-loved mother of John, Valerie McMackin, Stella Lynch, Dermot and Emer Porter”.
It added that she will be “deeply missed” by her family, friends and neighbours.
Hundreds of people have taken to social media to pay tribute to a “true lady” and share their condolences with the family.
“Rose was a beautiful lady inside and out,” one user wrote.
Gardaí are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to come forward.
They are asking that anyone who may have been travelling on Main Street in Buncrana between 2pm and 3pm on Tuesday contact them if they have any information or dash-cam footage.
A Requiem Mass will be held for Ms Byrne in St. Mary’s Oratory, Buncrana, at 10am on January 22, followed by interment in Burt Cemetery.
