Motorcyclist killed in Co Cavan crash

A male rider in his 40s died at the scene of Tuesday’s collision

A motorcyclist has died following a crash in Co Cavan.

The collision involving a motorbike and a car happened at around 3.10pm on Tuesday on the N55 main Cavan to Ballinagh Road at Corlurgan.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene, gardaí have said.

There were no reports of injuries to others involved in the crash.

A Gardaí spokesperson said the road will remain closed into Wednesday morning to allow forensic collision investigators to work at the scene, while the force has also urged witnesses to the crash to come forward.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N55 in the Corlurgan area between 3pm and 3:30pm on Tuesday 2nd January 2024 are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí,” they said.

“Any person with any information is asked to contact Cavan Garda station on 049 4368800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”
