Co Louth: Teenage girl dies after falling ill during football match

Clubs around the county expressed their sympathy to the family and teammates of the teenager .

A teenage girl has died following a football match in Co Louth.

It is understood that she died after falling ill during the game in Termonfeckin on Thursday.

Gardai said she was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, Co Louth after she “took ill”, where she subsequently died.

The North East Football League called off all matches for the weekend “as a mark of respect for the untimely passing” of the young girl.
