Two men in their 40s and 50s have been arrested by Garda after €7.2m of cocaine was seized at a Co Wexford port last week.

The cocaine, which weighed just over 100kg, was seized by revenue officers on Thursday at Rosslare Europort.

It was seized as part of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Services and the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau.

The two men were arrested the following day and are currently being held at Garda stations in the eastern and southern regions.

Investigations are ongoing.

This comes as a separate drugs seizure was made at the port on Saturday, when €16m worth of cannabis was discovered in an unaccompanied freight unit which had arrived on a ferry from Bilbao, Spain.

No arrests have yet been made in connection with this seizure and Gardaí investigations are ongoing.
