Cannabis worth an estimated €300,000 has been seized at Dublin Airport.

The drugs were recovered on Tuesday with the assistance of a detector dog and found vacuum sealed in the luggage of a passenger who had disembarked a flight from Toronto, Canada.

A Gardaí spokesperson said a woman in her 30s was arrested and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a Dublin garda station.

She remained in custody on Tuesday evening.

The seizure follows the recovery of herbal cannabis worth an estimated €720,000 at Dublin Airport on March 2, following which a 30-year-old Limerick man appeared in court charged with importing a controlled drug and possession of cannabis for sale or supply.

On March 10, cannabis worth around €330,000 was recovered at the airport, and a teenage male was charged and appeared before court.
