A man has been arrested after a woman was stabbed and sexually assaulted in Co Kerry.
The attack happened in the Main Street area of Tralee on Thursday, with emergency services called to the scene at around 9.30am.
The woman, who is aged in her twenties and understood to be a student, was taken to University Hospital Kerry in Tralee for treatment to her injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.
The man, whose age has not been revealed, was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 and taken for questioning at a Garda station in Co Kerry.
A Garda spokesperson said on Thursday afternoon: “The scene is currently being examined and investigations are ongoing.”
