A Canadian GAA match was postponed last week due to a pitch invasion by two bears.

The ladies football game between St Finnian’s Vancouver and Eire Og at the Burnaby Lakes was abandoned after the two bears made an appearance in the square.

The club said the game on Thursday had to be abandoned with the match to be rearranged for a later date, pending an appeal from the bears.

“Our senior ladies were in action on June 20th against Eire Og in Burnaby Lakes,” a social media post said.

“The game was a close contest right up until the game had to be abandoned due to two lively looking bears who were looking for the long ball in to the square.

“We will await the decision from the CCC on whether or not the game will be replayed or not but we’ll keep you posted.”
