Forestside shopping centre in south Belfast is to introduce a revised pricing structure for parking.
It comes after the 336,000 sq ft shopping centre, which includes anchor tenants Sainsbury’s, Marks and Spencer, Dunnes Stores and Next, changed hands in September.
Michael Herbert-owned Mussenden Properties bought Forestside for £42m, reportedly £5m above the asking price.
Under a policy that has been in place for the past four years, drivers visiting the centre were able to park for four hours for free, after which there was a penalty charge of £100, reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days.
However, customers will now have the option to extend their stay for up to six hours by paying a fee of £2, with the penalty charge applying after six hours.
Payment machines have been installed at each entrance to the centre, as well as the option to pay using the RingGo app.
In a statement posted on Faecebook, the shopping centre operators said anybody who required assistance should contact the guest services team, while information is also available at the guest services desk.
“We hope that these changes to our carpark policy will address your concerns and provide a more convenient experience for our customers,” the statement said.
The new charges apply to customers only and exclude centre staff.
