Carrickfergus family home ‘ransacked’ overnight

Police say the family were not at home but were distressed by the break in

A Carrickfergus family have been left shocked after their home was “ransacked” by thieves overnight.

Detectives were informed of the break in in the Ashbourne Manor area around 1.20am on Sunday.

Detective Sergeant Erskine said the family were not home at the time, but returned to discover the aftermath.

“We believe this occurred at some point between Saturday afternoon and the time of report, when the property was unoccupied. A sum of cash was taken during the incident,” they said.



“Understandably, the family have been left very upset by the intrusion into their home.

“Our investigation is continuing. Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area within the time frame above, or who may have relevant doorbell or CCTV footage, is asked to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 122 of December 22.
