Co Down property search carried out as part of West Belfast UDA criminality probe

Pair also arrested in Strabane in separate operation by PSNI’s Terrorism Investigation Unit

Cash and mobile phones have been seized by police during a search in Co Down as part of an investigation into criminality linked to the West Belfast UDA.

Officers from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force carried out the search in Bangor’s Ballyvester Grove area on Friday under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

A PSNI spokesperson said the seized items have been taken away for further forensic examination.

Meanwhile, detectives from the PSNI’s Terrorism Investigation Unit arrested two men aged 38 and 61 in Strabane, Co Tyrone, on Friday as part of an ongoing investigation.



Both were detained under the Terrorism Act and taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite in Belfast for questioning.

A police spokesperson added: “A number of items were seized during the searches. Enquiries continue.”
