The bottom of a giant Christmas tree at Guildhall Square in Derry has been stripped of its decorations.
In a social media post, Derry and Strabane council said there had been several incidents of vandalism and tampering with Christmas decorations in the city centre.

People have also been seen climbing the tree as well as a nearby oversized bauble, the council said.
It has been claimed that the 60 foot tall tree is the tallest in Ireland.

This is the third consecutive year that the decorations have been vandalised.
The council shared a photograph on X showing the bottom of its tree was now undecorated.
“The bottom of the tree in Guildhall Square has now been stripped of all its baubles Please report any incidents of vandalism you experience to the PSNI,” the council said.
It added that some parts of the city centre were now being monitored closely by police, community safety wardens and CCTV operators.
