Broadcaster Eamonn Holmes has told of how he is “proud” to have been one of the people who threw Phillip Schofield “under the bus”.
The Belfast-born television host made his feelings for the former This Morning presenter clear, adding that he believes Schofield is “where he deserves to be”.
He made the comments as Schofield is about to return to television screens tonight after he stepped down from ITV in May 2023 in the wake of his secret affair revelations, after leaving This Morning that same month.

It came amid a furore over Schofield’s admission of an “unwise, but not illegal” relationship with a younger male colleague.
Schofield will appear on Channel 5′s Cast Away, which will see him on a solitary stint on Nosy Ankarea, off Madagascar’s coast.
During the show, Schofield admits to feeling “thrown under the bus”.
Speaking on Monday on GB News, Holmes said he was happy to have been among those who “threw him under the bus”.
“I believe he is where he deserves to be,” he said.

“I am one of the people who threw him under the bus, I am very proud to have done it.”
Holmes added that he believes Schofield is “addicted to fame”.
“Absolutely addicted to fame,” he said.
