Elderly pedestrian seriously injured after being hit by car in Newtownabbey

Incident happened shortly after separate Co Antrim incident in which pedestrian died following collision

A woman in her 80s has been seriously injured after being struck by a car in Newtownabbey.

The collision happened in the Doagh Road area shortly before 6.15pm on Monday.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries following the arrival of emergency services.



A PSNI spokesperson said: “The road was closed for some time but has since reopened. Anyone with information, including dashcam footage, is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 1306 of 13/01/25.”

The incident happened shortly after a separate collision in nearby Glengormley, in which a pedestrian in her 70s was struck by a car and killed.
