A father-of-four killed in a crash in a rural part of Co Tyrone last week has been named locally.
Garrick Wood (56) died on Thursday in a single-vehicle collision at Fyfin Road at Victoria Bridge, south of Strabane.
The PSNI confirmed a man died as a result of the collision, and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
“Police would ask anyone who witnessed a red Audi A5 in the area around the time of the collision, or who has dashcam or CCTV footage, to contact police on 101 and quote reference 897 19/12/24,” a spokesperson said.
The victim has been named locally as Garrick Wood, from the Victoria Bridge area.
Mr Wood was one of three people to die on the north’s roads in just over 24 hours.
On Friday evening, a man in his 70s died in a crash between a car and a lorry at Belfast Road in Ballynure, Co Antrim.
That same evening, a pedestrian, Edmund Hughes, died after being struck by a vehicle in John Street, Dungannon.
A death notice for Mr Wood describes him as the “loving father of Jacob, Georgina, Isaac and Eliza.
It adds: “Sadly missed by his former wife Lyneve. Survived by his parents Geoffrey and Pamela. A dear brother to Tracey, Martyn and Roslyn. Much missed by the Rogers family Evelyn, Stuart, Larry, Helen, Ross and Cindy. Also by his neighbours and friends.”
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday at Ardstraw Presbyterian Church, before interment at Ardstraw New Cemetery.
It is understood Mr Wood was originally from New Zealand.
Among those to pay tribute to him on social media was friend Pat Maguire, who wrote: “My golf buddy has gone.
“RIP my friend, we had some lovely, memorable days on the green grass! Thoughts and prayers with his family.”
Laura Scott wrote: “I‘m so deeply sorry to hear of the passing of Garrick. He was funny, smart and always helpful when I worked with him. My deepest condolences to the whole family.”
