Firefighters extinguish blaze at M&S in Glengormley

Firefighters have extinguished a blaze that broke out at a Marks & Spencer store in Co Antrim.

The NI Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) received a report of an electric heater on fire in the store at Glenmount Road in Glengormley shortly before 9am on Saturday.

It is understood customers were evacuated from the store, which opened at 8am.

Two fire crews from Belfast’s Whitla station attended the scene along with a crew from Belfast Central station and one from Glengormley station.



A NIFRS spokesperson said the crews dealt with the fire using CO2 extinguishers.

The incident was concluded by 9.41am, and the fire was found to be accidental.

The Irish News has approached M&S for comment.
