Former Dublin councillor and doctor Bill Tormey in court charged with human trafficking offence and possession of child pornography images

A former Fine Gael councillor appeared before Dublin District Court on Friday charged with a human trafficking offence and possession of child pornography images.

Dr Bill Tormey (73), of Glasnevin in Dublin, was served with a book of evidence and sent for trial at the Central Criminal Court.

The accused, a Dublin City Councillor from 2004 to 2014, is charged with with knowingly facilitating the entry into the state of a person he knew or believed to be an illegal immigrant at Dublin Airport on August 4, 2021.

He is also charged with possessing seven images of what is defined as child pornography at his home in Glasnevin on 1 June 2022. He is to next appear before the Central Criminal Court on February 14, 2025.
