Funeral on Thursday for ‘bright and loving young man’ who died during Storm Éowyn

The funeral of a young man who died after a tree fell on his car during Storm Éowyn will take place in Co Donegal on Thursday.

Kacper Dudek (20) died in the accident in the early hours of last Friday morning as he was returning to his home town of Lifford from work in Letterkenny.

The accident happened at Feddyglass Raphoe on the main N14 road.

A funeral service for Mr Dudek, a former pupil of Holy Cross College in Strabane, will take place at St Patrick’s Church, Murlog, Lifford, at 10.30am on Thursday. This will be followed by cremation at Lakelands Crematorium.

Mr Dudek, originally from Poland, worked for Zeus Industrial Products, which said staff are “heartbroken at the tragic passing”.

The company added: “Kacper has been a valued member of our team since joining us in May 2024. Kacper worked in the warehouse area of the plant where he was known for his calm, helpful, and considerate nature.”

A minute’s silence was observed at a meeting of Donegal council on Monday, with representatives sending their condolences to family and friends.

Friends of the young man have organised a GoFundMe to support the family with funeral expenses and other costs. It had raised more than €12,000 by Wednesday afternoon.

Organiser Monika Pochylska said he was “a bright and loving young man whose life was tragically cut short during the recent Storm Éowyn”.

Mr Dudek was “full of life, dreams, and kindness; touching the hearts of everyone around him”, Ms Pochylska said.
