A local Co Antrim pub has been working hard this week to prepare 600 Christmas Day dinners to those in need.

Lily Johnston’s in Glenavy is providing the dinners to local charity Foodstock, who will distribute the meals on Christmas Day.

The owner Liam Cullen says it is the first year the business has provided the meals during the festive season as they wanted to give back to the local community.

“It’s something we always thought about doing, our parents were both working class people and we understand the hardships people go through.

“A friend of ours was volunteering at Foodstock and were looking for people to provide meals for some that are less fortunate over Christmas.

“I reached out and said we would love to help so we cooked the meals and looked after all the costs associated with it.”

Liam praised the staff at the bar who have put their shoulder to the wheel to get the meals out the door this week.

“We have been working for the last week and a half getting all the products in and prepared.

“Our staff have been an absolute godsend and friends and family have been helping out as well.”
