A photo exhibition to mark International Women’s Day exhibition has gone on display in Derry’s Bogside - featuring the late Martin McGuinness’s wife Bernie and Fountain community worker Jeanette Warke.

Organised by Derry’s Gasyard Féile, it features photographs of women from all sides of the community. The pictures, which are on outdoor public display at Meenan Square, were taken by Derry photographer Jim McCafferty.

Former Sinn Féin assembly members Mary Nelis and Martina Anderson are also included.

The pictures focus on local women, living or working in the general Bogside area and include “inspirational women from the past and the present”.

Fountain community worker, Jeanette Warke said she was "speechless" when she was told her portrait was to be included in the Bogside exhibition.

“I nominated Kathleen Simpson (also included) who runs the tuck shop in the Fountain community centre and when the photographer came up I thought and said to me to come outside for my picture I thought he was making a mistake. I was delighted; I’m doing a job that I love for more than 30 years. I was just speechless,” Mrs Warke said.

The exhibition will continue until March 18.
