Belfast City Council (BCC) said it is “urgently” investigating after footage emerged online appearing to show council staff involved in a fight with a member of a public.
The video shows an altercation in the Great Victoria street area of the city centre at around 3.40am on Thursday October 10.
A BCC spokesperson said they are aware of the footage circulating on social media and are looking into this “urgently”.
“We are aware of footage circulating online which appears to show council staff involved in an altercation with a member of a public,” they said.
“We are looking into this urgently and have no further comment to make at this time.”
The PSNI are liaising with council as the investigation continues.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “We are aware of footage of this incident circulating on social media. We are assessing the content of this footage, and have been liaising with Belfast City Council partners as the investigation continues.
“Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
“Our enquiries into this matter are ongoing.”
