SuperCupNI has launched an investigation into alleged racist remarks made between players during a match at the competition.
The tournament organisers say they are “deeply concerned” about the allegations, which relate to a match in Coleraine between youth teams of Mexican side Toluca FC and English-based Skouted FC.
The match was suspended following a number of ugly brawls following the incident.
The two teams were competing in the Boys Premier Vase semi final at Anderson Park, with Toluca leading 2-0 at the time and that result carrying them through to the final.
Footage from a stream of the game shows a number of brawls taking place, both on the pitch and outside the playing area.
“SuperCupNI is deeply concerned by the allegations of racist remarks made during one of the tournament’s games,” a statement said.
“We unequivocally condemn all forms of discrimination and racism. Such behaviour has no place in our tournament or anywhere in society.
“We take these allegations very seriously and are conducting a thorough investigation. Any form of discriminatory behaviour will be met with the strongest possible response.
“SuperCupNI is committed to promoting an inclusive and respectful environment for all players, coaches, parents, spectators, referees and volunteers.
“Our priority is to ensure that the values of respect, equality, and fair play are upheld throughout the tournament. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.”
Following the Mexican side’s victory in Coleraine, they went on to play Rangers in the Boys Premier Vase Final in Castlerock on Friday night.
Formerly known as the Milk Cup, the prestigious youth football competition concluded on Friday as finals of the various age groups took place.
