Jody Gormley: Former Trillick and Tyrone GAA player dies aged 53

The death has been announced of former Tyrone GAA player Jody Gormley.

The 53-year-old, who was an All-Ireland finalist with Tyrone in 1995, had been battling cancer.

Posting on X, Jody’s brother Damian said it was "with profound sadness that I announce my brother Jody passed away peacefully this evening“.

Following his playing career, he went on to manage Antrim and more recently won the Tyrone senior Championship with Trillick in 2023.

His death comes just weeks after an interview with The Irish News in which he revealed he was suffering from stage four liver cancer.
