Kneecap have unveiled a ‘Free Palestine’ mural in west Belfast ahead of a major anti racism rally in the city centre.

The Belfast rap group rescheduled the event at Hawthorn Street to an earlier time to join an anti-racism protest at city hall on Friday afternoon.

Painted by local mural artists, ‘Saoirse Don Phalaistín mural, the band told the crowd that ‘this is a reminder that there is a genocide in Palestine’.

In a statement Kneecap said: “We have moved our Palestinian mural unveiling to the earlier time so we can all then join the anti-racism demo afterwards.

“Fascism and racism have no place in our city - let’s send that message loudly and clearly.

“Migrants and all minorities are welcome in Belfast and help make this city what it is.”

The Irish hip hop trio have been long standing supporters of the Palestinian cause.

Earlier this year they boycotted the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Texas in protest over the event’s links to the US military and American support for Israel over its war in Gaza.
