A man aged in his sixties has been questioned by police in connection with an arson attack at the grounds of Larne Football Club.

The blaze happened on the Inver Road in Larne on Friday at around 1.25am.

Three cars were destroyed in the fire, which police later said was being treated as arson.

A PSNI spokesperson said on Monday that a man aged in his sixties had been arrested on suspicion of arson.

“He has subsequently been released on bail to allow for further police enquiries,” she said.

“Enquiries are continuing, and anyone who may have any information about the incident is asked to contact police via 101 and quote reference number 60 of 27/09/24.”
